In 1962, Fr John McSweeney was appointed parish priest to Villawood, the only suburb in its region devoid of a Catholic school. In 1965, a school was built and two sisters allocated from St Joseph in Fairfield taught classes from Kindergarten to Year 2. They continued their work at Sacred Heart until 1990, when the first lay principal was appointed.

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Villawood was entirely rebuilt on acreage just 200 metres from the original site where the Community Hub is now located. The new school was blessed and officially opened in 2005.

In 2015, we celebrated our Golden Jubilee. The Sacred Heart School community was joined by past teachers, principals and students on this momentous occasion in a joyous celebration.

Over the years, the strong faith and missionary spirit of St Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph has been witnessed through the school community. The school has a great devotion to the Sacred Heart and its motto, β€˜Live Jesus’ Way’. This is reflected in the strong pastoral focus of our school.
