Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Villawood celebrates its 2025 NAPLAN results, with students performing significantly above State and national averages. 

“These results reflect the strong culture of learning we’ve built at Sacred Heart, grounded in high expectations, equity and a belief that every student can thrive,” said Principal Helen Vujevic.

In a comparison with statistically similar schools, Sacred Heart’s Year 3 students ranked 1st in reading, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy, and placed in the top five for writing and spelling. 

Year 5 students also excelled, ranking 1st in numeracy and 2nd in reading and spelling.

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Villawood’s Year 3 students demonstrated exceptional growth across various NAPLAN domains, with standout improvements in numeracy (+17.32%) and grammar and punctuation (14.62%).

Year 5 students also demonstrated strong gains with impressive results and growth across four out of five NAPLAN domains, standout improvements include spelling (+13.04%) and writing (+13.04%):

“Our teachers analyse student data at impact meetings, use high-impact explicit instruction, daily reviews and differentiation to ensure every student is supported,” Mrs Vujevic said.

“We also invest in ongoing coaching and structured professional learning, and the results speak for themselves.”

Danielle Cronin, Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools said the gains reflect the commitment to improving teaching quality through ongoing professional learning, systematic assessment practices, and targeted intervention strategies.

“Schools such as Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Villawood are continuing to foster academic excellence by ensuring that every student’s needs are known and teachers are equipped to use a range of evidence-based practices to ensure that every learner is succeeding, regardless of their background.

In the 2025 NAPLAN results, more than 75 per cent of Sydney Catholic Schools students across Years 3, 5, 7, 9 were deemed proficient in reading, writing and numeracy, falling into the top two bands.
